Quilts without compromise
10 years of quilt production at Sanders-Kauffmann – a summary
More than 10 years ago, the bedding manufacturer Sanders took over the equipment, part of the staff and thus the know-how as well as the trademark rights from the insolvent quilt specialist Kirchhoff.
In the meantime, Sanders-Kauffmann not only has its first steps behind it, but the manufacturer of fine bedding is now also credited with the necessary expertise that is absolutely essential for the production of fibre-filled bedding.
A look back:
After the company Sanders decided to enter quilt production, the machinery of the insolvent Kirchhoff company was taken over and installed in the Bad Bentheim factory, which was enlarged especially for this purpose. Under the traditional brand name “betty”, the ever-popular fast-moving items from the former Kirchhoff were relaunched and Sanders began a race to catch up in order to make up for the ground lost due to the necessary relocation.
It soon became clear at Sanders that it was not enough to rely exclusively on traditional products; the company had to make progress in order to keep pace with the rapid market development. True to the motto “class instead of mass”, the company abandoned large-scale production in favour of modern automatic frame quilting machines, which for reasons of cost and space were now installed in a separate hall in the Wynograd factory in Ukraine. The automatic machines were joined by the other machines, so that the entire quilt production has now been relocated to the Ukraine and has been significantly modernised through corresponding new investments.
New variants were added to the well-known quilt range from Kirchhoff, such as a modern textile fibre with the brand name Sensofill active, which not only creates a particularly pleasant temperature-controlled sleeping climate, but also ensures a particularly high and active moisture management due to its unique structure, thus enabling a particularly high level of sleeping comfort.
Further innovations followed, such as the new edition of the well-known and at that time first neck support pillow “Pro-Pil-O“, which was already used as a therapeutic pillow in the past and in its new design continues the success of that time.
In the meantime, the Sanders-Kauffmann company produces fine quilts under the Kauffmann brand with an exclusive body-friendly quilting and fillings that meet every requirement. The extensive range naturally includes noble classics such as cashmere and camel hair quilts, but you will also find products with sustainable viscose filling, such as the bestseller “Bamboo” or with the modern functional fibre “Sensofill active” already mentioned.
Product management is working at full speed on new filling variants and has already developed a noble treasure under the name Vikuña with the extremely rare filling from the animal of the same name. As a new summer variant, there will be a duvet with the trendy sustainable raw material hemp.
Sanders-Kauffmann is sure that the transfer of knowledge and expertise has been successful, that the company has moved from the reaction phase to the action phase in quilt production, and that it will enrich the market as a competent and efficient supplier with both innovative and traditional quilt products.
